Wiki is up
In order to collect as many ideas as possible and to try and find a good date and place for this event, I’ve set up a wiki:
http://brusselsgirlgeekdinner.pbwiki.com/
The password is frut. I could have added a bit more l33t-ness to it but this one will do.
Logo and WP design
As announced on London Girl Geek Dinners and in the comments to my previous post, Girl Geek Dinners around the world now have a logo. And yes, it’s the striped one :-). But as Sarah Blow puts it: “if you would like to adjust the colours to your own pink you are more than welcome to do that.” So I used this one by Carolien to go with this post.
In the meanwhile, Ine Dehandschutter has designed a WordPress theme for our Brussels Girl Geek Dinner. I liked it straight away; I hope you do too. If you would like to use the theme: e-mail ine ((at))
So what’s up next? I’m going to put up a wiki to try and find a good date and spot to have Brussels Girl Geeks meet. And answer a FAQ on geek dinners, viz. “Are guys allowed to come?”. Or as Kris Hoet puts it: “If I crossdress, can I come?”.
Where’s the logo?
We’re still working on the details, like the design of this blog :-)
In the meanwhile, over at Girl Geek Dinner Central, there’s a logo and baseline competition. Have a look at the finalists below. What do you think?

So, what is a girl geek anyway?
A girl geek is, you guessed it, someone who is female and has an interest in technology, particularly computing and new media. Not necessarily technically minded. There’s even a Girl Geek Manifesto:
- Share your knowledge, ideas and experience with others.
- Encourage others to use and find their interest areas with technology.
- Make learning technology fun!
- Encourage both the older and younger generations into technology.
- Be proud of being geeky!
- Be ethical about your geekiness.
This manifesto is, of course, not written in stone. It is written in a wiki, so anyone can come in and edit or discuss what is on.
But have you ever wondered what a girl geek usually looks like? What she likes and dislikes? And how she feels about general geekiness?
