BGGD #9 Question: what would you take to a tropical island?
The answer is, of course, Giovani Oosters (remember him?).
He’s just started Foodbuilding to specialise in cooking workshops and tasty teambuilding activities. For Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #9, he prepared his world famous banana buns one more time, as a side dish to a delicious coconut stir-fry dish.
Big thanks, Giovani! It was del.icio.us.

BGGD #9 Could we be Guitar Heroes?
Last Saturday I went to the Next08 gaming, electronics and IT event and I was totally wowed by the Guitar Hero World Tour demos. Guitar Hero World Tour is the first game in the Guitar Hero series to feature drum and microphone controllers for percussion and vocal parts.
I definitely don’t have space in my living room for a drum, microphone and two-guitar set-up, but maybe we could mess around a bit with it and have a Rock Band session at the upcoming Brussels Girl Geek Dinner this Wednesday. After all, the theme is Music+Technology, right?
So my appeal is twofold:
- If you have a Guitar Hero III guitar (usb, for xbox) please bring it along. I will bring a very basic Guitar Hero III (iMac) setup with one guitar so if we have two or more we can organise some Guitar Battles.
- If you know someone who works either at a games store or at Sony/Nintendo/Activision.. please let me know. I know it’s very short notice, but it would be so cool if we could have a Guitar Hero World Tour set up this Wednesday during Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #9.
BGGD #9 Goodie bag sponsor love 5: Fa Naturals
We already had four goodie bag sponsors (thank you plugMedia , Chupa Chups, Fanta Still and Sensoa/Allesoverseks.be), and now we have a fifth: Fa Naturals.
The Fa White Tea & Bamboo Shower Gel boasts a moisturizing formula with antioxidant rich white tea to care for your skin cells and their renewal.
We’ll put everything in Guido.be bags this Wednesday. Oh, and good news: even the sacochen (male invitees) will get a bag this time!
BGGD #9 speaker: Bert Schiettecatte, with a demo of audiocubes
Bert Schiettecatte was born in Ghent, Belgium and has a passion for electronic music, musical instruments, and engineering.
After studying in Brussels he completed a Master of Arts in Music, Science and Technology, at Stanford University’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) with the help of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation, and returned to Belgium to found Belgium-based company PERCUSSA.
PERCUSSA‘s mission is to design and market the electronic musical instruments of the future. At Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #9, Bert will demonstrate the Audiocubes.
The AudioCubes are unique in their simple user interface and offer a novel approach to sound synthesis: collaborative music creation. Think of each AudioCube as a single synthesizer module connected by light beams instead of patch cables, and moving the cubes similar to moving the controls on a synthesizer module and you’ll have a pretty good idea as to the possibilities AudioCubes offer.
BGGD #9 Put your name on the list and you’re in
Sorry for the delay, but registrations for Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #9 (on 12 November in the Kaai16 building, Hasselt) have just opened.
For those who’ve just tuned in: Brussels Girl Geek Dinners are free (including entrance, food, drinks, and even a goodie bag) but seats are limited to 75 girl geeks. This is why only people whose name is on the Wiki page are allowed in.
Who puts your name on the Wiki page? You do. Just click “edit page” and add your name to the “Attendee list”. If asked for an “invite key”, it’s sacoche.
BGGD #9 Goodie bag sponsor love 4/4: Sensoa
We’re not telling too much about the 4th goodie yet, but this (world famous) tv ad is a hint:
BGGD #9 Goodie bag sponsor love 3/4 Fanta Still
We’re adding more sweetness to the bag, with some fresh Fanta Still for the girls. Not sure which flavours yet (Orange Citrus, Orange Tropical, or Orange Tropical Zero) but we’ll tell you as soon as the Fanta train arrives at BGGD HQ.
BGGD #9 Goodie bag sponsor love 2/4 Chupa Chups smokefree sweeties
Lollipop-maker Chupa Chups (they’ve been around for 50 years now!) has come up with a sweet substitute to cigarettes for smoke-free hands.
Kilometre-long traffic jams, endless meetings, or long cues at a reception desk: don’t really make your day …Chupa Chups now launches a healthy remedy for that kind of annoyances: the Relax Box. 6 sugar-free mini lollies with a special combination of strawberry & herbs (lemon balms & lime blossom), which help you escape the day-to-day worries. Call it chilling, daydreaming, or a heavenly ‘leave me alone’ moment.
And on 12 November, every girl geek gets one box, filled with 6 mini Chupa Chups. Sweet huh?
